Cosmetic Warrior - LUSH Fresh Face Mask Review

Cosmetic Warrior

Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask

Overview

Directly from the lush website:
"Spots! Oily areas! Blackheads! The frustration of having breakout prone skin can incite aggressive, ‘industrial’ type cleaning. Unfortunately, breakout prone skin is often very sensitive, so using harsh cleansers can actually make the problem worse. Don’t over attack your skin; lead it firmly down the path to salvation with Cosmetic Warrior. Cosmetic Warrior is kind to problem-laden faces thanks to moisturizing egg whites and honey, which smooth and tighten the pores. Antiseptic garlic and tea tree oil effectively clean and disinfect spots for a fresh, clear face."

I like to scoop this puppy up when my skin is acting out because I know the tea tree oil will do its magic and clear things up for me. I'm not a huge fan of the smell, but I'm willing to power through it if it means my skin is clear. :)

What's in it? (click each ingredient for more info.)

Kaolin , Fresh Green Grapes (Vitis vinifera) , Fresh Free Range Eggs , Honey (Mel) , Cornstarch (Zea mays) , Glycerine , Fresh Garlic (Allium sativum) , Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) , *Limonene , Perfume

What's it smell like?

GARLIC AND TEA TREE OIL. Holy moly, if you don't like the scent of either one of those, then this mask if not for you. I actually don't mind the scent because it reassures me that the mask is disinfecting my skin.

How much is it?

This puppy costs $6.95 for 2.1oz. Like the Cupcake mask, I can usually get four or five thick masks out of this baby within the two week time frame they recommend.

Does it work?

LUSH claims that the egg white and honey moisturize and tighten pores while the garlic and tea tree oil contain antiseptic properties that clear the skin. I can attest to both of these. I normally like my pores to feel clean and open after washing it or using a mask, but this definitely tightens everything up. The garlic and the tea tree oil help to clear my skin over the course of the two weeks I stretch this mask out for. Are the results immediate? No. But there are results. I would recommend anything with tea tree oil in it.

Pros

  • Nice, fresh ingredients
  • Thick consistency (like the other, but still easy to work with)
  • Feels nice on the skin
  • Decent price for number of masks you can get out of it

Cons

  • Heavy garlic and tea tree oil smell

Last Minute Sleepover

http://www.chicagonow.com/cheaper-than-therapy/files/2013/09/Couples-feet-in-bed-008.jpg
It's been a while since I've posted an actual blog post. Sorry! Life got busy unfortunately. However, as the title of this post suggests, I have gained some more knowledge about sleeping over. This time it's the last minute edition. A couple months ago I crashed at my new beau's place last minute. All I had with me was my purse and whatever I had in it.

For pj's I just asked him if I could borrow his clothes, which wasn't a problem. Hahaha we ended up matching which I thought was adorable and he didn't get. I wore a TMNT shirt while he sported TMNT pj pants. In the morning I didn't have a toothbrush to brush my teeth with, and while I've heard about using your finger with some toothpaste, I found that the little Colgate Wisps I had in my purse did the trick. That's about all I had. He had to go to work, so I just got dressed and laid in bed until we were ready to go (he had to drive me home). Since it's a 5 minute drive, it wasn't much of an issue.

Between the couple times that I've slept over at a guy's house, this one was probably the more comfortable out of the two which is ironic because I had nothing with me. No complaints though, it was a nice night despite the lack of sleep I got (I don't think I can sleepover at other people's houses).

MMM...yuck. - LUSH Review

MMM...

MMM Melting Marshmallow Moment - LUSH

What's in it? (Click ingredient for more info.)

Very sweet candy. I paired this with Candy mountain when I used it. Big mistake. The scents together were sickeningly sweet. I ended up breaking them into pieces to get more than one use out of them. This was probably the downfall. The first time I didn't mind it so much, but the more I used it, the more sickening the scent got. Even now in the store I can't stand the smell.

How much is it? Does it work?

The price for a 3.5 oz  cupcake-shaped melt is $7.95.
As far as it working, I would say that it does work. The skin soothing cocoa butter and almond oil in it make the water soft and smooth as well as my skin.

Pros

  • Makes skin soft
  • Bath water feels silky
  • Does what it says

Cons

  • Smells sickeningly sweet

Sleepover at Your Boyfriend's - Taking that Big Step

Some Useful Essentials
Alright ladies (and gentlemen, if you so please,) as you can tell from the title, this post is going to be about sleeping over for the first time at your boyfriend's or significant other's. I personally did this for the first time a couple nights ago and it went swimmingly. However, if you search the internet for "sleeping over at a boyfriend's house" no one has really touched on the subject. Not unless you want to read about parents and their thoughts on it in forums. Although I did find an amusing anecdote here. Otherwise, no thank you.
What about those of us who are actually old and mature enough to be doing this? Granted I don't think we'd be googling it, but it'd be nice to have some resources. So alas, here I am sitting with my laptop in my lap writing a post about it. You're welcome. Just kidding. Though hopefully you find this post helpful.

So to start off I'm going to share the real truth about sleeping over: less is more. You don't have to bring a shit load of stuff to his house when you spend the night, if anything at all.

← Pictured to the left, I have some essentials that I brought over to my boo's house when I spent the night. That was more than enough for me. The only reason I had even that much with me was because I threw stuff I already had packed from vacation into my bag. Gotta love convenience. *thumbs up* Not pictured obviously are the clothes I wore and PJs I changed into. I just brought a pair of sweatpants, comfy t-shirt, and extra shirt for the next morning.

Soooo anywho, let's jump into my list of essentials!

  • A bag for your things

This may be a no-brainer, but I figured I'd add it onto the list for good measure. My advice is to not bring a bag that's too big. You don't want to alarm him and make him feel like you're moving in. You're spending one night. Keep it simple. Hell, I brought all of my stuff in a Forever 21 bag (the culprit is pictured to the right). Everything I needed fit nicely inside the bag and it was easy to carry. However, next time I think I'm going to bring my things in a bag like the one above.

  • A change of undies/shirt
Yes, I have a pair of my undies pictured above *gasp* but come on ladies! You want to feel fresh while you're at your boo's house especially if you're not showering. My boyfriend's bathroom is nasty, so there is no way I'm ever showering in there. The next morning, I actually put on the same shirts I was wearing the night before and wore my PJ pants home. I wasn't going anywhere. I had a dress with but didn't feel like wearing it. If you don't wanna do that, I'd recommend wearing the same jeans and changing your shirt and undies.

  • A pair of PJs
Also a no-brainer unless you "forget" and he gives you something to wear. I just slept in an oh-so-sexy t-shirt without a bra.

  •  Toothpaste/Toothbrush/Mouth Wash
Please, please, please don't pull a Kristen Wiig from Bridesmaids and run to the bathroom quick, do your makeup and hair, and climb back into bed. I will smack you. While it's nice to want to look nice for your honey, he invited you to spend the night for two reasons: he wants to get laid and he wants to spend time with you in all of your morning-breath-puffy-eyed glory. However, be courteous and at least "brush your goddamn teeth, cus your breath stinks." (Practical Magic reference, anyone?)

  • Hair brush/Face Wash
The hair brush will be nice to have in the morning. I brought mine, but didn't need it because my hair didn't get messed up. I know, I know, but it's true. We only slept for a few hours and I tried to move as minimally as possibly to avoid waking him up. I also brought face wash but didn't use it. I'd recommend bringing it especially if you wear makeup before going over. I wasn't wearing any, so it wasn't much of an issue. By the time we went to bed, I was too tired to wash my face. (Lame excuse, I know...)

  • Deodorant
I'm going to say that this is probably the most important thing you can bring aside from your toothbrush and toothpaste. I had mine with me although it isn't pictured. It's actually in the bottom of the Forever 21 bag under the dress I never wore. You wanna smell good for your man in the morning! Or any time really. Throw some on before heading out the door the next morning.

Other miscellaneous things:

  • Condoms - I'm not saying this is a must. I truly think you should not have sex with your man until you are 84904859034809% ready for it.  I had some with just in case. I know for a fact that my boo doesn't have any at his place.
  • Body spray
  • Phone charger - I'm lucky in that my boo has the same phone as me, so I could've just used his if I needed to.
Have you spent the night at your boyfriend's? Was it awkward for you? Do you have any other suggestions on what to bring? Leave a comment below!
